The AVFormat Software Studio-developed application Audio Editor Plus does precisely what its name suggests: it lets you edit audio files. You can cut parts out of an audio file, paste new parts in, add noise, and add a variety of effects to the audio file. When you’re done, you can save it as an MP3, WAV, or any of the several other supported formats.

The Audio Editor Plus installation file weighs in at a mere 2.6MB, so that the download won’t take long to complete. Clicking through the setup wizard that helps you install the Audio Editor Plus application won’t take long either. You need only select the installation directory, choose if you want a desktop shortcut, and then hit the Install button.

By default, Audio Editor Plus presents the audio file selected for editing in wave form. If you want to, you can switch to spectral view. Below and above the pane that presents the audio file in wave or spectral view, there are buttons for various functions the Audio Editor Plus application can perform. At the top, in the upper left hand corner, there’s a traditional File Menu.

To get started with this application’s functionality, you must first load an audio file. The following formats are supported: WAV, MP2, MP2, WMA, CDA, AVI, OGG, AIFF, AIFC, AU, G.726, G.723, G.721, VOX, MPC, RAW. If you don’t have an audio file to load, you can record sound and use that; the application can record sound from a variety of sources.

Once the audio file is loaded, you can start editing it. There are several things you can do: crop a part out of the audio file, add a variety of effects, apply different filters, insert noise and silence, convert the audio file to another format.

Please note that because Audio Editor Plus is only free to try, part of the functionality it has to offer is not available in the trial version. To enjoy the full functionality the application has to offer, you have to get a license.

Audio Editor Plus is a handy tool for editing and converting audio files.

Pros

Audio Editor Plus provides support for numerous audio file types. Use the application to edit audio files and to convert them from one format to another. The interface will not pose a problem to any user.
